Kermit has many good ideas to
guide you through the maze of design options. Twenty five years
of experience comes with many connections and relationships
which assure you that your new changes will utilize today's
newest materials and reflect today's modern style.
In the before pictures, shown here
to the left - you see a complete make over is needed in this
bathroom. Kermit is open-mined to your ideas but he has the
vision to foresee the results. He makes the product connections
for you to assure the results are beautiful. His
extensive experience in remodeling and renovations aids you
through the thought process - even if a homeowner doesn't know
exactly what they want.
After spending time with his
clients to get to know them and their lifestyle preferences,
Kermit can utilize his own insight and contacts to create the
look they wish to achieve.
Keeping costs under control is
another reason to utilize a professional contractor. If your
plans require major structural changes, Kermit may suggest an
architect. He will also aid you in lining up all the contractors
that will be required, such as a landscape designer and a pool
builder. Engaging their services should be done in unison in
order to keep the job moving.
And since all exterior changes
to your home usually require the approval of your homeowners
association architectural review committee, be sure to request
their approval of your plans before you get started.
Reworking
An Existing Floor Plan
While the overall flow of this
home was good and the basic essentials suited the lifestyle of
this homeowner, just a few revisions were needed to make it more
comfortable and give the home a contemporary ambience. High
ceilings throughout the home lent a sense of openness, but the
hallway seemed tight. While it actually measured to code width,
its low ceiling made it seem close and confining. Plans were
made to widen it by only six inches.
To balance the new, wider
hallway, the doorway leading into the kitchen and family room
would be expanded to match. The opening to this area featured
the only arch in the home, which would be squared off to match
the hallway opening.
It was also determined that the
first bedroom would make a great home office, with a new double
French door entrance to open up the room. Since the generously
sized window in the first bedroom faced the front of the home
and looked out on a low, walled courtyard, replacing the window
with another double French door and raising the existing
courtyard wall slightly would create a private, cozy oasis.
Of course, the first thing to
go would be the old "popcorn" ceilings. The living room
featured an intrusive painted brick fireplace and hearth with a
narrow window on one side and a single French door on the other.
To freshen, expand and balance the room, plans were made to
remove the brick face and hearth and resurface it with faux
stone from floor to ceiling, lending height.
The room's narrow window would
be replaced by a single French door to add symmetry to the room
and we ordered new French doors to match the existing door. |
